Jonathan McDonald leaves Alajuelense to go to Qatar

The Liga Deportiva Alajuelense striker, Jonathan McDonald, will stop being a player of the red and black team to go to Qatar football, with the Al Ahli team that is based in Doha, the capital.

"There was an opportunity to go to Qatar football. It is an extremely good option for the club, for me and my family, because it is a country too nice to live. We made the decision in conjunction with my loved ones and the president (Fernando Ocampo) to join this new club, "explained Jonathan McDonald.

McDonald does not appear in the list of players who will face the duel against Greece, although until Tuesday was within the eleven that Hernán Torres was going to use.

"I come out at a time that is a little complicated for the league, but I know that with the spreadsheet, with the quality of coach we have new and with work we will move forward. Glad for the opportunity to go abroad, I thank the team and the fans for all these years in which they gave me so many positive things, "added McDonald.

This will be Jonathan McDonald's third opportunity abroad. In 2010 he played in the Vancouver Whitecaps of the MLS and in 2012 he went to the Kalmar of Sweden.

The footballer considers that it is a very good opportunity in the economic aspect and that he could not miss it, neither he nor the hedgehog team.

"It's a win-win option, it was what I wanted, the option we were waiting for and it's the alternative with which the League will win as it deserved to win and me and my family as well. So we're doing well and we hope to see you soon, "the player finished.

This situation was foreseen by the board of directors of Alajuelense and that is why Marco Ureña was hired, with the objective that the offensive would not be diminished.

In the previous tournament, Mac scored 14 goals, while in the Clausura 2018 he scored 16.

Javier Delgado, sports manager of the hedgehogs, said that initially, the gunner leaves for four months, with an option to stay longer.
