Myanmar / News Agency reporter was released from jail after 500 days, sentenced to 7 years




Yangon Two Reporter Reuters news agencies closed in Myanmar jail for nearly a year have been released. Both were found guilty of breaking the official privacy law. It is being told that the President has apologized before Myanmar's New Year which started on April 17.

The news agency told the eyewitnesses that on Tuesday, Wa Lone (33) and Kev Soo (29) were seen coming out of the Yangon prison. He was sentenced in September 2017. They were in jail since December 12, 2017.

The President prepares prisoners before the new year

Myanmar President Win Mint informed in April that 16 foreign prisoners are expected to be forgiven on humanitarian grounds during the Buddhist New Year festival Thingyan. However, neither was the name of both Reuters journalists.

Rohingya was reporting on the crisis

Both reporters were working on news related to the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar. Before the arrest in September 2017, both of them had reported against the tyranny of the army against Rohingya Muslims in the Restrain Province. Both were believed to have been accused of breaking the law when their hands had some confidential documents.
